You're getting a PhD in math?! Will you help me with my math homework?

Like with any other subject, a student would be best off taking math in a setting that stimulates learning, and from a professor whose style works well with them. 

But sometimes it takes more than that. Sometimes, you have to cater your math studies to the way your brain works. Are you an artist? It might help you to take colored pencils or highlighters to class to make sure you don't make sign errors or forget parts of your equation. Are you an auditory person? It might help to make up songs or poems to remember formulas or the steps to tackling a problem.

The point is, you don't have to do math the same way as your teacher or the rest of the students in your class. Don't be afraid to do whatever it takes to learn this topic. If someone thinks you look silly, nevermind them. When you're a millionare tech mogul and they're waiting tables it won't be you who looks silly.
